Of 6s & 3s Hexes

I just found out today the difference between the two ... was trying to figured out myself (using interdev)
pinged beatrice .. then she directed me to a link she googled ...
din helped ...
then i decided to google myself (should have done that than bothering her ... ain't i a bother :P)

googled for "color 6-digit 3-digit hex"
and was led here for these answers

3-digit hex format, … is widely used in CSS-based web design.
and
The difference between 3 digit hex and 6 digit hex is that in 3 digit every doubling code is removed.

Example: #669933 becomes #693
